A "man page", short for "manual page", is a file documenting the use/purpose of a program, options and flags, common usage, and often a history of the program. Man pages can be accessed at the shell by typing "man <command>". "man" is the program that formats and displays the man pages, and more information about it can be accessed by "man man".
